The Smith’s and the UFCW Local 1564 bargaining committees started contract negotiations this week toward a new agreement for associates represented by the union in collective bargaining.

Initial Proposals Exchanged

This first week of bargaining provided an opportunity for the union and company bargaining committee members to introduce themselves and exchange opening non-economic proposals.

What’s New

The bargaining committees are scheduled to meet again on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23.

Why it Matters

Contract negotiations are a process and can take time. By working together, exchanging questions and ideas, and having productive discussions, we believe we can reach a good agreement that:

  • Invests in market-competitive wages,
  • Continues affordable health care benefits, and
  • Secure pension benefits
